Have an undying urge to travel? But no time? What if we told you that there's a place which is way more relaxing and gorgeous than you could ever imagine?

Uttan Beach

Yes, there's a place where you can actually go and come back in like no time! Uttan, located in the western suburbs of Mumbai is a place where serenity is the only thing you'll find everywhere. Though the place is secluded and is away from industrialization, fortunately, makes this section of the city quite pleasing to be in.

On this trip, the cyclones were joined by one of the elite travellers who reside in the suburbs though but his dreams are to travel the globe. Shashank Pokhare, the man who loves to document his travels in the form of his vlogs, was the one who helped us get through this simply ravishing beauty. Shashank has an elaborate travel-based YouTube channel which he fills up with the content he gathers by travelling to distant and unknown places.

How to get there?

People are confused as to where and how to reach, but in reality, it’s actually pretty simple. Following the Google Maps is all we’d like to suggest. But jokes apart here’s an elaborate way how you can reach the location.
If you own a private car, it’ll be a delight for you to drive on the roads, as the roads (not the city roads) majorly after Mira Road are surrounding on both the sides by the trees. It’s a pleasure for any driver to ride along such a scene and with good music to tag along. Definitely, it’s not that far for the suburban peeps but the SoBo (South Bombay) people need to sacrifice a major chunk for their day to make a complete back and forth to meet their journey’s end.

If you’re on your two-wheelers and if you’re really a travel fanatic or long drive are your forte then without even thinking you follow the path that the cars follow.

But here comes a loophole for all those of you who want to cut down on the riding part and want to reach there ASAP. You can both go to Marve Beach or Gorai Beach and take the ferry. Once you get down from the ferry likewise follow a straight route to the location which not too far from the ferry points.

Heaven on Earth

Uttan beach is exquisitely appealing and allure you to every bit of itself. It is undoubtedly one of the prettiest beaches we have ever been. Besides being quiet, the water comes to turn to be a little cleaner and shallow shore makes it safe for the people to walk in, confidently. The rocks on the shore make it absolutely charming when it’s viewed from a certain height.

Just opposite to the beach is an angelic wonder that stands tall adding to the beauty of this place. Velankanni Shrine, which is a perfectly sculpted architecture that holds a statue of Mother Mary at a peak located a few feet above the sea level. Once you start moving towards the shrine you’ll encounter a pathway of steps that takes you up to the statue. Just start climbing and as you start ascending admire the beauty of the sea and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The look gets even better once you reach the top and that’s when realize that all the hardship of climbing a hundred steps was extremely worth and satisfying.

The view from the shrine is jaw-dropping and especially in the evening when the beach lights up with sunlight and sparkles as if there are diamonds spread over the surface of the water. Anyone who actually wants to admire the beauty of nature will definitely have this place on top of their list.
Lastly, you can end your journey with some snacks stalls around the corner as the sun goes down, the place especially the shrine lights with beautiful lights and seeing it the mind fills up with happiness and gratitude. The intense journey that filled our minds with absolute harmony and gratitude then comes to an end when we head back to our places nearing all those memories from this aesthetically pleasing destination!

What you should know?

The roads, especially in the suburban area, are quite disturbing and so going through them might be a task (though for any ‘Mumbaikar’ reading this it is a well-known fact). Moreover, if you’re opting for the cheap route that via the ferry then there are chances that your two-wheeler might get stuck in the sands of the beach so you have to be careful that way. For two-wheeler commuters, it is advisable to take the longer route at night as it is more feasible and safe.

The shrine has strict times of opening and closing so plan to reach there at the time of sunset which will be the ideal timing for your visit. As soon as you reach there, you’ll be greeted with mobs and mobs of people wandering aimlessly in the markets, so don’t be startled but cause it’s not how it looks like.

The market is small and people are more so it looks way more congested than it actually is. Also due to ample people around you can easily miss the turn and get lost so pay close attention to maps and if so happens that you get lost finding the way, you can anytime waver out to anyone asking about the location and the people are always on the toes ready to help the tourists and promote tourism.

In conclusion, it was a mix of emotions altogether, but in the end, what matters is the fun and excitement and no doubt we did have a lot of fun and want our readers to enjoy too. Plus, the intense feeling of calmness and silence with a touch of spirituality and religion made our journey breathtaking. So, in the end, we’d like to recommend this place as a go-to place for all the readers and the travel enthusiasts who love discovering & striding to such mind ravelling locations.
