Sealink

Discovering the ‘underneaths’ of the greatest attraction of Bombay!

Everyone, once at least, has been to the Mumbai’s greatest and the most magnificent spot which is the Bandra-Worli Sealink. But have you wondered what lies below?

There are rocks and it feels much heavenly below the bridge much like how it feels being on the bridge. Especially if you’re a photographer this place is definitely for you. Many photographers including 'devdxb', 'haramkhor' and many such top-grossing Indian photographers have been there and showcased their art incredibly.

It’s basically like an extremely small island under the bridge where you get to stand on some rocks and you’re surrounded by the ocean. Sometimes the high tide makes it impossible for the visitors to go there but if you wait for some time then the water tends to recede, making it possible for the people to hop into the rocks underneath.

On this tour of the sealink, we collaborated with a yet another urban photographer, who has made it to ‘gram with his amazing phone photography skills. Janak Bhadresha, the man whose lens has captured not one but many vivid and sensational photos! He was the one who actually planned out and made the trip a success.

How to get there?

There are basically two ways to get there, one being from the Bandra end and other being the Worli end.

If you planning to go from the Bandra end, then go could get down from the Bandra fort onto the rocks and seemingly reach the area.

But if you are planning to go from the Worli end, then you first have to reach the Worli Koliwada and then the Worli Fort. As soon as you reach the fort you’ll see the sealink, right in front of you. Start walking towards the Bridge and you’ll gradually see rocks being laid up to the bridge.

Get over the rocks and move straight till you arrive at a point where the bridge is exactly above you.

Below the bridge!

The feeling is real. The sight is extraordinary. Imagine numerous cars going right above, hearing the engines rave right above along with waves crashing on the rocks. Imagine a sunset to couple with all of those sounds. All of this comes to reality when you reach there. The rocks are short, sharp and slippery making the route a bit difficult to trudge.

There are few places where you can actually stand and takes photos but that is possible only during low tide. It’s not uncommon to find lovebirds hanging around the corner but that’s so obvious, isn’t it? Some people find it interesting to do crazy things in love. So, getting back to the rocks, it’s extremely important to know that rocks might have eroded so there may be extremely no space for you to even stand.

The place is too airy and is one of the coolest (pun intended, here) place to be during the summers. Though, the wind carries humidity but still is quite cool. It’s probably heaven for photographers as this place can render you some gorgeous photos.

What you should know?

Firstly walking over the rocks are extremely dangerous and can lead to many fatal consequences including you falling into the water. So you have to be very careful when while walking over those hard cut and minutely polished rocks that have very sharp edges.

Moreover, you always should check the time of the high tide and the low tide as it’s not recommended to climb down the rocks during the time of a high tide. Also, there are police routinely checking around in the area, so there are chances that they may stop you from moving any further ahead.

It’s a humble request to just use this post simply as a post and nothing more than that. If you wish you to go there, please make sure that you don’t create any ruckus there.

In conclusion, it was overall an amazing experience for us and filled us with a sense of tranquillity! This is a place which will always be close to our hearts!
