The TOP List
Here’s a list of few
most haunted places of Mumbai and their real stories:
It is a high rise
tower that is located exactly in the centre of the city. Because of its
location, it is hard to believe that it is haunted but it surely is. It is the
most haunted place of Mumbai though. It is believed that the 8th floor of this
building is the place where some strange events have occurred. A couple had
committed suicide by jumping off from that floor. Moreover, the family that
bought this apartment did all sorts of ceremonies to stop all of the hauntings
from occurring, and to their fortune, it did stop but still, the tower remains
a place where people are afraid to go even today.
It was built in 1949
& is extremely famous for its beautiful gardens and lakes. Aarey Colony is
one of the busiest roads in the city. It is situated in the suburban part of
the city. Moreover, the early risers often flock around the place in the
morning for a refreshing walk or a quick run through the woods. But as soon as,
the clock turns 12, people tend to avoid this place as there are many cases of
hauntings & sightings of people been reported. At night, there are strange noises heard and
also if you’re travelling in a car or an auto or even in a taxi, there are
cases of people encountering a lady in a white dress asking for lift. It is not
a place to be at night time!
Anyone who has been
to Madh Island knows how beautiful the road is, that takes you to Madh but
localites have some different story to tell altogether. People who live near
Madh don’t tend to traverse that path, especially at night as they claim the
road to be haunted! According to the people, a long time ago a bride who was
recently married was killed on the sides of that road and ever since the spirit
is haunting that place. Many accidents take place on that road and it is
believed that the majority of the accidents are the curse of that spirit.
It is much like any
other normal building of the city but the people living here are not happy
about the things that happen around the place at night. Located in Mahim, which
has to be one of the most haunted parts of the city, this building has a brief
history of fright. It is so believed that there was a 50-year-old lady who fell
into a well that is sealed in the compound and since then the spirit is
occasionally seen on the full moon night and vanishes every morning.
A national park that
is so full of mysteries has to be on the list. It is home to many wild animals
and birds. Any and everyone who wants to witness the nature’s beauty and
unbelievable diversity of the city must visit this place. Besides the daunting
animal noises, the paranormal activities of this place are interesting too! One
of the most famous hauntings of this place is of a lady who is seen asking for
directions from people enjoying their evening walks or runs. The lady then is
seen eagerly following them and blocking their ways even further into the park.
Some of these stories, even the forest guards agree to.
Mukesh Mills is the
first thing that comes to our minds when we hear the word ‘haunted’. It is a
place that tickles our mystery bone and will give one hell of a spine chilling
experience if you visit it alone at night! A place that was once used for
shooting horror films and Television serials, is now a place completely
deserted! The blockbuster film Om Shanti Om was shot in here. It was built by
East India Company in 1870 and then a massive fire turned down the entire
structure into ashes. The mills were then used for shootings. The most famous
incident that took everyone by surprise was when Kamya Punjabi, a famous
actress of Bollywood was shooting for a film in Mukesh Mills started talking in
a male’s voice. She angrily exclaimed the crew and the cast to empty the place in a
bold and a manly voice. Since then, no films are being shot there and it
remains to be the most mysterious place till date.
The colony of
Borivali, that is believed to be famous for its hauntings has an elaborate history of
many hauntings and sighting reports. The most astonishing of them all is about
a playground that is now sealed by the localites because of the horrors that it
holds. It is believed that there was a gardener who loved his plants and ground
so much that he committed suicide to prevent his owner from selling the plot.
It is since then that the hauntings started and, people now refrain themselves from even
going close to the plot.
One of the most
intriguing places on this list is the tower of silence. It is a ‘crematoria of
the Parsis’ located in Malabar Hills. Parsis believe that instead of burying or
burning the dead, it is better to give off the remains of the dead to the wild
scavengers! The dead people are usually placed in the tower of silence for them
to be eaten by the eagles & vultures. Nobody goes even miles close to this
place at night. It is because people say that they have heard screams and cries
coming out of the tower of silence especially around midnight.
Surprised aren’t you,
to see such a prosperous hotel on this list. But it’s true, the hotel has
reported sightings of a spirit. Though the spirit has not done any harm to
guests or the staff. It is said that the builders WA Chambers committed suicide
as the map that they built for the hotel turned out to be wrong and the whole
of their project would be demolished. Since then the souls are haunting the
hotel and are seen by many staff.
One of the funniest
mysterious you must have encountered. It is said that there’s a soul in the
Bombay High Court that helps to solve cases. Yes! As funny as it seems, some
many senior judges and lawyers have strongly supported this fact. Much
hysterical as it sounds, it is genuinely a huge mystery as to if these stories
stand true?
One of the largest
library in the country. It has an amazing collection of books across all
genres. But some stories are written not in the books. It’s believed that the
library is haunted by the souls of the Britishers. The truth behind this story
is still not clear.
Here’s to the most
haunted place of Bombay. The people emptied the entire locality after the
sightings started happening. Once an extremely habituated chawl of Santa Cruz
is now believed to be a home for a spirit, too. It is said that a long time
ago, an old lady fell into the well and died. Ever since the haunting &
sighting of the old lady has been commonly reported in the chawl. The people
have seen shadows and heard screams of a woman occasionally at night.
Surprisingly, the spirit has not harmed anyone yet but people out of fright do
not roam out of their houses after the sunsets.
